Founded in the year 1054 by Patriarchs

This Major Sect is 965 years old.

Like the Catholic Church, Orthodox Churches claim a direct descendency from Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The Orthodox Churches split from Rome in 1054 and have approximately 17 individual Orthodox Churches led by Patriarchs. Various doctrinal disagreements can be found between the sects. It should be noted that since the split from Rome, Orthodox Churches have convened no councils as they consider themselves incomplete without Rome.
